Thanks to Bryan Glesmann ’15 for sharing with us the following updates:
The chapter has been undergoing steady growth for the last few years, with a current size of 57 members. This growth is expected to continue into the future.
The fall 2013 semester had our chapter ranked in the top quartile nationally for all Delta Chi chapters in funds raised and man hours contributed for the V Foundation, with 120 total man hours and $656.00 donated. These numbers came from our annual Pumpkin Carving competition.
This semester, we will be holding the “3rd Annual March Madness Tournament Challenge” for the V Foundation. Our goal is to raise $2000, a significant leap from $1400 last semester, but attainable because our chapter has added the option for donors to use electronic payment methods.
We have 4 brothers studying abroad this semester: Jake Offenhartz, Dan Ferman, and Jim Schutt are studying in Spain, and Jonah Brandhandler is studying in Prague.
Moving forward, the brotherhood is excited about the upcoming semester, and has a strong motivation to improve our organization. The underclassmen are taking great strides in leadership within the fraternity, and several upperclassmen are doing their part with the new house campaign and committee systems such as Associate Member counseling and IM sports. The Executive Board, besides myself (a junior), is comprised entirely of ambitious sophomores. One could argue that a young Executive Board might equal little to no experience. On the contrary, prior to election, our A and D headed the brotherhood committee, our B headed philanthropy, our C headed our formals, our F was the prior C, and I was the previous A. Even though we are a young board, we have experience within the chapter and expect our successful efforts to continue. In addition, many new initiates have already been elected to committee head positions, and are eager to begin their individual leadership in our fraternity and on campus.
In the 2013 winter semester, our AM class ranked #3 in GPA for all active IFC chapters with an average of 3.478, an incredible leap from #31 in fall 2012. The report for fall 2013 AMs will be released soon.
Winter recruitment is underway and we hope to initiate at least 10 AMs this semester. With the help of Marquez Brown (our Regent), who was kind enough to travel to us to deliver a recruitment workshop to the chapter, we have high hopes of meeting this goal.
