How I Spent my School Year, 2019

Or, Thank you Seniors

Or, That’s a Wrap!

With the beginning of Spring comes the close of the 2018-2019 school year. As the Brothers of Delta Chi disperse to their respective homes across the country, I reminisce about how close we have become as a brotherhood, especially with warmer weather gracing Ann Arbor. Our main event this spring was our brotherhood BBQ with Brad Tatz showing off his skills on the grill, feeding the 120 brothers with burgers and hot dogs. The weather has been beautiful allowing the brothers to toss the football around with anticipation for the upcoming football season. The brotherhood favorite game has become SpikeBall which is a game similar to volleyball but played with a trampoline type net. Although the back lawn has taken some wear, spring rain has already allowed the grass to sprout in the patches. Brothers playing catch has been a familiar sight at the house and it certainly is a nice change of scenery after the cold Ann Arbor winter. Although our GPAs might have flowered with brothers stuck inside the house libraries, it is refreshing to be able to go outside and enjoy flashes of spring. With finals came much stress in the house. Brothers knew our time together was coming to a close for the summer months. This motivated us to spend every second we could together. Whether it was watching TV, a movie or sports, we found comfort from the stresses of finals in each other’s company. Brothers also found good times in late night blackjack and poker games. Too often, these games extended a too late to allow us to get a full night sleep for morning exams. The

brothers also chose the Colorado Avalanche as their favorite in the Stanley Cup Finals. For what reason? I don’t think anyone truly knows. Let’s Go Avs!

Delta Chi remained on a bright path through the end of the Winter term. Our Marco Madness fundraiser raised over $23,000 for the Children’s National Medical Center in DC. We also secured four of the eight executive board for the AAIFC. Brothers Matthew Plonskier, Borna Shoa, Micah Krakoff and Griffin Darcey secured President, Vice President, VP of internal affairs and VP of finance, respectively. We are proud of our brothers and happy to have our brothers shaping Greek life at Michigan for the years to come.

With the end of the year also sees our beloved seniors leaving Ann Arbor which is a heartbreaking sight. We have become particularly close with this group over the last year and it will be tough to see our brothers leave. We know they are on to bigger and better things and they will be making huge impacts on the world around them. We will certainly be in touch with all of them going forward as many lifelong friendships have been formed over the year. They have all been wonderful ambassadors for Delta Chi and have allowed us to grow into the brotherhood it is today. We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to them for that. I would like to congratulate all of our seniors as well as our other brothers for finishing up another semester. The future of Delta Chi Michigan looks incredibly bright, much in thanks to our seniors. I cannot wait to see where the next few years take us. I know we will be leaving it in the capable hands of the current freshmen come October. I wish everyone a happy and healthy summer and as always, “Proud to be a DChi”.
