It’s a Beautiful Thing!

  • We are excited to share this image with you. As you can see, the foundation of the new chapter house is taking shape. The walls were poured earlier this month, and the waterproofing and back filling should be completed by the end of this month. It’s something worth seeing when you return next weekend for our 2015 Fall Reunion and 125th Anniversary Celebration.

Here are the latest updates:

  • The last front section of the foundation walls was poured on September 14.
  • Foundation waterproofing, footing drains and back filling should be complete by September 25.
  • Masons will begin the lower-level block work about September 28 to be ready for the lower-level steel.
  • The main level precast floor slabs should be set by mid-October. This process will be repeated for the second and third floors.
  • The latest schedule shows the roof completed by year-end.
  • Alpha (our construction manager) has contracted with Blue Stone to do all the carpentry, roof truss erection, insulation and drywall work which should help keep the schedule plus ensure better quality work with one firm responsible for all that work.
  • Plumbing and HVAC subcontractors have been selected. Selection of the electrical contractor is underway.

As reported in the last construction updated, the revised estimate indicates the cost will be $3.0-3.1 million due to site conditions and lack of competitive bids due to high levels of construction activity. Now, we still really need your help to finish the last $144K of our now $1.1 million campaign. To the 134 brothers who have pledged, thank you! CLICK HERE to see their names.

To the remaining brothers, please CLICK HERE to make your pledge. With spending rapidly increasing, funds are needed this year and early next year. Remember: donations of $1,000 or more will place your name on the permanent plaque of brothers that are making the new chapter house a reality. Donations totaling $10K or more are tax deductible.

Thank you for your support and In the Bond,
