An article in the Ann Arbor News on May 18, 2009, by Art Aisner headlined:

Thief makes off with Greek letters on house of University of Michigan fraternity, police say

“A burglar made off with the large Greek letters on the outside of a fraternity house near the University of Michigan Central Campus on Sunday, police said.

Members of the Delta Chi fraternity called police at 5 a.m. after hearing noises on the roof of their house at 1705 Hill St., Ann Arbor Police Sg. Brad Hill said.

When officers arrived, residents said they found a ladder belonging to the house extended to the roof.   The large Greek letter facing the road were missing.

A resident also reported a bedroom door was partially pried open, and a laptop computer was missing, reports said.

Hill said police believe the burglar entered the house from a fire escape after getting on the roof.”

This article was sent to members from 2006 to 2012 to get further details.  Patrick Kellam ’11 hypothesized it was probably the Sigma Nu house across the street that had pulled off this feat.  Chris Bence ’10 indicated it was his MacBook Pro that was stolen and that they had broken through the window in the door to Middle Earth (room off the fire escape) and sniped it.  No one was caught.
