Thanks to Jim Streicher ’62 for the following submission:

“I earned my Fraternal Fifties pin last year. My years as a Beta at Ohio State provided some of the most fun memories of my life. The years have been very kind to me and although my wife Sandy (Delta Gamma, OSU, 1962) and I have had and continue to share wonderful times together and though we have been blessed with three great kids and seven wonderful grand-kids, when it comes to plain fun with great friends, nothing comes close to the years at OSU and being part of a great Fraternity. The “Seabreeze Parties ” where brother Art Wolfe ’62 and I brewed our own beer for the occasion, the serenades at the sorority houses, especially the DG house and the bonding with other Betas in the pledge work sessions, the ditches to Cleveland (I remember the night at the burlesque and Irma the Body) and the very special ” Hell Week ” experience. I know that a lot has changed and many Betas will not experience the special times similar to those we had some 50 years ago (that may not be all bad). However, the pendulum is swinging back and the Fraternity will play a more significant role in one’s college experience and it sounds like actives at Theta Delta chapter get it and will certainly benefit in the years ahead through their association with Beta.

Sandy and I spend half of our time in Naples Florida (Nov. – June), but really enjoy the rest of our time (when not traveling) with our family in Chagrin Falls and Hudson, Ohio. There is an active Beta Alumni group in Naples and George Barry ’61 and I have been known to tee it up and throw them down from time to time. Some moments to remember”
