“When I graduated from in April of 1979, I was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy (via the Michigan NROTC program).  I retired from the Navy in August of 2005 with the rank of Captain.

I was a Public Affairs Officer for most of my career. I currently work as a civilian public affairs specialist for the Department of the Navy in the Pentagon.”

Lt. Lane Kendig, USN
“I served in the Navy from 1962-1965. I began my service on the USS Abbott DD629. In August of 1964 I went to Vietnam as an advisor to the Vietnamese navy. When U.S. forces were committed to combat I was one of two officers who tested Swift boats for suitability. I left after 3 years in the reserves and a Lieutenant.”

Art Angood, USN
“After graduation from Michigan I served thirteen years in the Navy.  Three years on active duty as an aviation officer with fighter squadrons aboard The USS Bennington and the USS Midway followed by ten years in the reserves.  Finally my vision was such they did not need me any more.  That was a long time ago.”

Capt. John Jenkins, Army
“I was enrolled in Army ROTC at Michigan, completed basic training at Ft. Campbell in summer 1955, six months active duty at Ft. Knox (Armored Officers Basic School followed by service as Executive Officer, Howitzer Company, 2nd Battalion, Sixth Armored Cavalry.

I served in the active reserves from 1958-1972.  2nd Lt, 1st Lt, Captain, assignment “Tank Unit Commander”. Reassigned to Mobilization Designee, Intelligence 1965-1972, Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington D.C. Reassigned to Armor 1972, followed by honorable discharge.”

Capt. Thomas M. French, USAF
“I was commissioned as a First Lieutenant as a Judge Advocate on April 27, 1961.  After attending USAF Chaplains School, (a requirement for all entering Judge Advocates) I served as a Staff Judge Advocate at Hunter AFB, Savannah, Georgia.  After being promoted to Captain, I was transferred to Wiesbaden AFB, Wiesbaden, Germany where I also served as a Staff Judge Advocate until December 6. 1965.  After 50 years of general law practice in Brattleboro, Vermont, I am concluding my career by assisting veterans, pro bono, with their disability and pension claims before the Veterans Administration.”

Michael Ganas, Army
“I was in the Michigan Chapter of Delta Chi fraternity (’64-’66) and served in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief with the 17th Air Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division (March ’69 through March ’70), with over 100 flight missions under my belt.  Currently I’m the Director/VP of the Marine Engineering Division of Boswell Engineering.  Just recently I published my second novel.  Click HERE or HERE for additional information.”
