DX Memorial Funds

The fundraising team for the new chapter house currently recognizes and supports seven memorial funds. These memorials recognize brothers and others who have contributed to the Michigan chapter and who have passed away, often prematurely. Alums who were especially close to the memorialized brother can direct their pledges to the brother’s fund, as well as see their name on any naming-right plaques.

The currently supported memorial funds are:

  • John Russell (“JR”, Chapter Chef, 1970-1982) Memorial Fund
  • Armando Ledesma (Class of 2006) Memorial Fund
  • Jim House (Class of 1964) Memorial Fund
  • Harry “Buck” Crouthamel (Class of 1975) Memorial Fund
  • Gerald MacDonald (Class of 1960) Memorial Fund
  • Richard Michael “Big Magoo” McGuire (Class of 1958) Memorial Fund
  • Russell H Jack, Jr (Class of 1957) Memorial Fund

City Approves New House Site Development Plan

The Ann Arbor City Council unanimously approved our site development plan on August 7. Congratulations to all who made this possible! A preliminary estimate based on these site drawings indicates the project remains within the original goal of $2.5 million including furnishings and on schedule for the construction start in May 2015. All gifts of $10,000 or greater are federal tax deductible via the DX Education Foundation. Click below for more details.

You Think You Have It Figured Out?

Brother Dan Maher, a graduate from 1976, thought he had it all figured out. “Even when you think you have it figured out,” he says, “something is most likely going to change. When this happens, you need to be able to reassess and revaluate.” Dan credits his years as a Delta Chi at the University of Michigan as some of the most formative times in his life. A2 Planning Commission Approves Site Plan 9-0

The Delta Chi Special Exception Use and Site Plan Project was reviewed at the July 1 meeting of the Ann Arbor City Planning Committee. Staff gave an overview and approval without contingencies for the project. The Planning Commission, after hearing all interested persons (there were none in attendance at 11 pm) and reviewing all relevant information, found the petition to substantially meet the standards and therefore approved, by a vote of 9-0, the Delta Chi Special Exception Use for a fraternity, subject to building occupancy of no more than 34 persons including the resident manager. Note:  this resident manager can be anyone in the house and it does not have to be a paid position.

Jerry Newport: Making the Most of Different Abilities!

“I appreciate Delta Chi now as a lifetime experience- showing loyalty and love from college that is still there.   You might not even see it as an undergrad.  When I think about my Delta Chi experience, it makes me even gladder today that I felt back then…”

Good News and More Good News on the New Chapter House

Here is the good news… 41 brothers have donated to the new chapter house project and the total stands at $602K. Thank you, thank you! But, we must raise $1 million by the end of September so the design can be completed and the additional $1.5 million loan can be secured. The opportunity… it’s time for the remaining 400 brothers to honor the commitment each of us made when we became an active to support Delta Chi through out our lifetime. Please answer your commitment and pledge your donation now.

March Madness Makes the Big Bucks!

This semester, Delta Chi presented the Third Annual March Madness Tournament as our philanthropy event with all of our proceeds going to the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research. We set a $2000 goal, as last year’s event raised about $1500.

Alumni Spotlight: Art Angood

Art Angood has spent almost all of his life in the Battle Creek area. So, when high school classmates who were members of Delta Chi invited him to pledge, he said it felt like “coming home.”
