The Walls Are Going Up …We’re Almost There, but the Goal Has Moved … WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW!

Last spring, we were within $100K of our fundraising goal of $1.0M for our new chapter house. Over the summer, another $54K was pledged, bringing us to within $46K of our goal. I stand in awe of the 136 brothers who have helped us get this far so quickly … THANK YOU! Also over the summer, the goal moved to $1.1M. Why? The recent construction cost estimate indicates that the final number for a completed and furnished house will be $3.0M-3.1M vs. the original $2.7M. We are asking you to join with the donating brothers and pay it forward. Rejoin your fraternity by supporting our capital campaign. CLICK HERE to learn more and to make your pledge.

Marvin Teutsch ’56: His Late Nights Have Served Him Well

The life of Marvin Teutsch ’56 is one of real and symbolic explosive moments — his real-life Homecoming explosion which landed him in the U of M hospital for three weeks, the launch of successful businesses and the energy and strength behind a marriage that has lasted 57 years. Today, this self-proclaimed night owl (he thrives in the hours between 4 p.m. and 5 a.m.) is enjoying life in sunny Arizona and Mexico, surrounded by his family. Stuart Popp ’83: Sunday Steaks and Trash Can Punch

It was the breakfast … and lunch and dinner … of champions thanks to house cook, JR. Many brothers likely have similar recollections … steak on Sunday and made-to-order breakfasts that included bacon … lots of bacon. Today, nursing a higher cholesterol than he would like, Brother Stuart Popp ’83 recalls his very fond memories of his time at Delta Chi Michigan. Click below to read his full story.

“Bearded Scott” Hillen ’97: He’s a Walking DX History Lesson

Want to know something about Delta Chi at Michigan? Brother “Bearded Scott” Hillen ’97 is your guy. A former “C,” Scott took on the task — as an undergraduate — to publish the history of our chapter since its start. That gift, alone, is one that DX will treasure for many generations. Today, Scott works in Ann Arbor the manager of technical operations supporting several of national parks. His recollections of his DX days are vast and give us all an authentic trip down memory lane. “The thing that makes me the proudest about being a member of Delta Chi is that it truly is a brotherhood of a lifetime. We have roots on campus going all the way back to 1892, and the amount of time most brothers are active in the chapter is only a few years. Yet, those experiences of that short time frame have a commonality and resonance that extend far beyond just that short window in time in everyone’s lives.” Click below to read Scott’s story in his own words.

Jordan LaFave ’11: Friends for Life

As a recent grad and member of Delta Chi Michigan, Brother Jordan LaFave ’11, has many fond memories, as you would expect.  His driving message is one of a strong brotherhood that cannot be broken. “Don’t just remember me. Fifty years from now you should give me a call so we can meet up for a drink!” Click below to hear Brother LaFave’s story in his own words.

Are You 1 of Our 475?

The house is “out of the ground.” The main floor should be set in place this week. This image shows the new house from Hill Street. Despite the progress, the campaign is $144K short of the revised goal of $1.1 million. To the 136 brothers who have donated, THANK YOU! When will the remaining 475 brothers choose to join the campaign? Your donation would help finish the campaign. Isn’t it time for you to do your part for future Michigan Delta Chis?
