Help Your Brothers Move Onto the Next Chapter
We planned a Groundbreaking Weekend on 9-10th of May in Ann Arbor. This event will include a groundbreaking ceremony at the current chapter house at 1:00 PM on Saturday, followed by the opening of the chapter’s time capsule, the retrieval of its cornerstone and rescue of memorabilia and artifacts from the current house. Read on for the tentative schedule.
House Construction Update
We are in the final design stages getting ready for the long awaited start of construction of the new chapter house. Allan Lutes, Alpha Design/Build project leader, reports all design decisions have been made and are being incorporated into the final bid specifications.
Look What We Are Planning for the Chapter House!
WOW!!!! Alan Lutz led a design review of the new chapter house that included floor plans and proposed colored interior design schemes. We think you will be truly impressed with the work to date. We will build a house you can truly be proud of. Click below to see the design work and send in your feedback.
Just $1 a Day…Less Than Your Trip to Starbucks!

With the approval of the construction loan by Ann Arbor Bank, the next step is finishing the design, bidding the project and getting the building permits. We are going to build the house! Now we need to secure the last $100,000 of the campaign. We seem to be stuck at the $899,950 level against the required $1 million. Congratulations to the 118 brothers (only 21% of the living brothers) that are now participating. If the remaining group pledged just $1 a day for three years, we would be finished. How about it? It is very easy to do … Click below to make your pledge today.
Submit Your Pledges and Donations by Year End!
We have raised $845K of the required $1 million thanks to 109 generous brothers of Michigan Chapter of Delta Chi. To finish our campaign, we need to receive your pledge by year’s end. And, to receive your income-tax deduction, we need receive your donation check by year’s end.
Chapter-House Naming Rights
We are in the process of assigning of naming rights for the new chapter house. Posted on the home page of the web site, you will find:
- Naming-Right Rules for both individual donors and memorial funds.
- Layouts of all four floors showing the location and price of the naming right to each room, space, or element of the new chapter house.
- A log showing the assigned and available naming rights to each room/space/element of the new chapter house
DX Memorial Funds
The fundraising team for the new chapter house currently recognizes and supports seven memorial funds. These memorials recognize brothers and others who have contributed to the Michigan chapter and who have passed away, often prematurely. Alums who were especially close to the memorialized brother can direct their pledges to the brother’s fund, as well as see their name on any naming-right plaques.
The currently supported memorial funds are:
- John Russell (“JR”, Chapter Chef, 1970-1982) Memorial Fund
- Armando Ledesma (Class of 2006) Memorial Fund
- Jim House (Class of 1964) Memorial Fund
- Harry “Buck” Crouthamel (Class of 1975) Memorial Fund
- Gerald MacDonald (Class of 1960) Memorial Fund
- Richard Michael “Big Magoo” McGuire (Class of 1958) Memorial Fund
- Russell H Jack, Jr (Class of 1957) Memorial Fund

City Approves New House Site Development Plan
The Ann Arbor City Council unanimously approved our site development plan on August 7. Congratulations to all who made this possible! A preliminary estimate based on these site drawings indicates the project remains within the original goal of $2.5 million including furnishings and on schedule for the construction start in May 2015. All gifts of $10,000 or greater are federal tax deductible via the DX Education Foundation. Click below for more details.
You Think You Have It Figured Out?
Brother Dan Maher, a graduate from 1976, thought he had it all figured out. “Even when you think you have it figured out,” he says, “something is most likely going to change. When this happens, you need to be able to reassess and revaluate.” Dan credits his years as a Delta Chi at the University of Michigan as some of the most formative times in his life.
